Assets Creation

MHDO’s Access Creation (AC) program follows the WFP’s structure and criteria. The MHDO’s AC program improves community resilience to disasters, rural livelihoods, and food and nutrition security. The MHDO utilizes two categories of transfers: Food for Asset (FFA) and Cash for Asset (CFA) in collaboration with partners. Through the FFA transfer, nutritional assistance is provided to vulnerable populations in exchange for participation in asset-building activities. The CFA transfer provides direct financial aid to individuals or communities, allowing them to invest in income-generating activities and establish sustainable livelihoods.

FFA and CFA transfer

  • Both transfers include activities that involve the development of irrigation schemes and water resources for domestic, livestock, and aquaculture utilization. This includes the construction of irrigation canals, ponds, access roads, springs, shallow wells, and similar infrastructure.
  • To enhance climate resilience and rural resilience, the program supports the building and protection of productive assets at the community level and provides support to targeted households in post-harvest handling and food quality management.
  • Lastly, the program promotes climate-resilient agriculture through community-based initiatives in agriculture and fisheries. It introduces improved farming systems and practices that contribute to sustainable and resilient agricultural production.
